Najponk Trio

 is not just classical music. Reknown jazz musician Najponk takes some motifs of Bach's music, and along with Tares Voloschuk and Marek Urbánek, he re-contextualizes them - in jazz rhythms and with improvisation.

Jan Knop, alias Najponk, has been a staple of the Czech music scene for the last twenty years, for both  his solo projects and his various  ensembles, many of which have received coveted music awards. At theBach for All festival he will feature an acoustic trio; Najponk (piano), Taras Voloschuk (double bass) and Marek Urbánek (drums), who will present so-called Straight Ahead Jazz. For this special occasion, Najponk's trio will perform its repertoire of Bach-inspired compositions, Baroque music by Bach's contemporaries, as well as jazz standards that are rooted in the Baroque era. What,  and how, the gentlemen will play,  will  not be known until the last minute. That is the serendipity of jazz improvisation - it brings a surprise moments for all involved.
